Challenge
Develop a complex college matching application from a visionary’s rough concepts that works seamlessly across all device types.
Approach
I worked with the Product Team to develop a concept map, personas, and user flow based on client interviews and brainstorming meetings. We used the concept map and user flow to determine the order in which we would design and develop the application. After reviewing these deliverables and confirming with the client that the information was correct, I designed the overall information architechture and look and feel of the application (colors, font, etc.). For each part of the application, I designed high-fidelity wireframes that were passed on to the Engineering Department for development. Each feature of the application was designed in a fashion to scale seamlessly across all device types. We successfully released an MVP and continued to add additional features to the application.
Insights
When a product is designed from a vision and rough concepts, it can be honed in as reviews occur. A card-based approach for information architecture was used to allow content to be stacked on smaller screens.
